My name is Michele and I’m a mom to three amazing adults, a Memere to one sweet five-year-old, and the human companion to a small pup named Henry. For as long as I’ve had memories, I’ve always loved reading, telling stories, and listening to the stories of others. Creativity and connection have been central threads throughout my life, shaping both my work and the way I move through the world.

Before my FND diagnosis in March 2022, I worked as a preschool teacher, a professional picture framer, and in customer service as a supermarket cashier–roles that allowed me to blend patience, creativity and daily connection with people, whether through art, learning, or conversations about food and the meals people were creating for their families. These experiences continue to inform how I approach life today, with attention to detail, curiosity, and compassion.

Living with FND has reshaped my life in profound ways, but it has also deepened my understanding of self-care, creativity, and learning to meet myself where I am. Through art, quilting, time in nature, reading, and simple daily rituals, I’ve found ways to support my mental and physical well-being and reconnect with what brings me joy. Since my diagnosis, I’ve also formed meaningful new connections, nurturing friendships that have brought deep support, nourishment, and a renewed sense of belonging to my life.

I’m grateful to be volunteering with FNDcourage and honored to be part of a community that values courage, compassion, and living fully – just as we are.

The post Michele Plante first appeared on FNDcourage.

Hi! I’m Zane, a true westerner at heart. I grew up in the deserts around Phoenix, AZ, where I spent my childhood backpacking through the various landscapes – canyons, deserts, rivers, and mountains. I took that experience and ran with it; traveling to Europe and Africa in the summer of ’89. After college, I pursued a graduate degree in Fine Art in Detroit, MI, which continues to keep me very busy on my feet and hands. I love to build, create and fabricate just about anything.

I returned to the west by moving to the beautiful state of Colorado where I rekindled that childhood love for the landscape. If I’m not busy with work, you’ll find me in the backcountry of the Colorado Rockies either mountain biking or snowboarding.

The post Zane first appeared on FNDcourage.

I am a Colorado educator by heart and a recovering perfectionist by trade. I have an exquisite husband, a four-year-old son, an 18-month-old daughter, and a 12-year-old dachshund mutt who helps me to live in the present moment.

When I developed FND, I was largely unaware of the ways in which I was ignoring and abusing my nervous system. Through my work with Dr. Moenter and FNDcourage, I have learned to respect my nervous system and we are becoming friends. My newly befriended nervous system is helping me to find my place in the world and thrive in a way I never imagined.

If you choose to join this community, you won’t regret it. I look forward to seeing you.

The post Rose first appeared on FNDcourage.
